Composition 2012 : Michel Petrossian laureate
French composer Michel Petrossian has won the 2012 Queen Elisabeth International Grand Prize for Composition.






His concerto for piano and orchestra, In the Wake of Ea, will be performed at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts (Palais des Beaux-Arts) by the 12 finalists of the 2013 piano competition and the National Orchestra of Belgium, dir. Marin Alsop, from 27 May to 1 June (world premiere on Monday 27 May).

His prize of 10.000 euro is offered by the SABAM. The 12 performances will be broadcast live on radio, television and internet and the work will be released on CD.

December 2012, this composition has been selected from the 141 scores that were entered in the Composition Competition. The international jury, chaired by Arie Van Lysebeth, consisted of Kris Defoort, Kimmo Hakola, Hosokawa Toshio, Michael Jarrell, Hanspeter Kyburz and Frederik van Rossum.

Five finalists each win 1.500 euro, presented by the National Lottery :
