English soprano Elizabeth Bailey has graduated from The Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London) in 2002 and continued onto a one year Post Diploma in Vocal Training. In July 2005 she completed a two year Opera Course.
Elizabeth’s most recent Operatic roles include Queen of the night (Die Zauberflote) for L'Opera de Geneve, Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Elvira (L'Italiana in Algeri), Guadalena (La Perichole) Lausanne Opera,Wanda (La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein) Folies lyrique, Princesse (Le chat botté) Lausanne Opera, Fortune (Guiliver, a creation by F.Cattin), Blondchen (Die Entführung) Opera de Baugé, Contessa di Folleville (Il Viaggio a Reims) in the Opera houses of Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Nancy, Toulon. Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) Lausanne Opera, Rosina (La finta Semplice) and Monica (The Medium) for Fribourg Opera. In the summer of 2006 Elizabeth sang the roles of Crobyle (Thais/ Massenet) for Grange Park Opera and Ernestine (Monsieur Choufleuri). Other roles include Barbarina (The little Green Swallow, Dove), Thérese (Les Mamelles de Tiresias, Poulenc), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia, Britten), Philine (Mignon, Thomas).
In the summer of 2003 Elizabeth worked in the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the productions of Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Fledermaus and in 2008 she attended the Academie d’Aix-en-provence. Her oratorio repertoire includes Handel’s Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Brahm’s Requiem, and Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. She recently performed Haydn's Nelson Mass with the prestigious choir Les Elements in Toulouse and performed Mozart concert arias in a series of Concerts with L'orchestre des pays de Savoie with conductor Nicolas Chalvin.
Elizabeth has competed in many international competitions. Most recently in 2009, she was a finalist in the prestigious Operalia, semi-finalist in the ARD and Mirjam Helin Competitions. In 2008 she was a Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and won the Jacques Stehman Audience prize. Elizabeth was also a finalist in the 2008 Francisco Vinas, Geneva Competition in 2007 and at the first International Competition in Strasbourg in 2007. Elizabeth won the “Menuhin festival prize” in the first Swiss International singing competition in Bern 2006 and she was also a finalist of the prestigious Toulouse International singing competition the same year. In November 2005 she won first prize Opera and second prize Melodie at the European Competition of Macon, France.
Originaire de Bristol, la soprano anglaise Elizabeth Bailey effectue ses études musicales à la Guildhall School of Music & Drama de Londres. Elle reçoit différentes bourses et se perfectionne ensuite au sein de l'opéra studio de cette même école.
Depuis, Elizabeth Bailey a chanté au festival de Glyndebourne, notamment dans les productions des Noces de Figaro et de la Chauve-souris. Elle s'est aussi produite dans les rôles de : Comtesse de Folleville (Il Viaggio a Reims), dans une grande tournée en France (CFPL) notamment à Bordeaux, Toulouse et Marseille, Montpellier, Nancy et Toulon. Guadalena et Manuelita (La Perichole), Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera) et Elvira (L'Italiana in Algeri) à l'Opéra de Lausanne, Wanda (La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein) aux Folies d'O de Montpellier, Fortune (Gulliver) et Rosina (La Finta semplice) avec Jeune Opéra Compagnie (Suisse), Blonde (Die Entführung) Opéra de Baugé, la Princesse (Le chat botté) et Barbarina (Le Nozze de Figaro) à l'opéra de Lausanne, Monica (Le Médium) à Fribourg, Dijon et Besançon, Crobyle (Thais) pour Grange Park Opera, Ernestine (Monsieur Choufleuri) au Festival de Off and Bach à Venelles, Philine (Mignon), Lucia (Viol de Lucrèce), Barbarina (The little green swallow) et Thérèse (Les mamelles de Tirésias).
Elizabeth Bailey a chanté dans de nombreux concerts et oratorios dont Carmina Burana (Lausanne), le Messie de Haendel, le Requiem Allemand de Brahms, la Messe en ut mineur de Mozart, l'oratorio de Noël de Bach, Elijah de Mendelssohn, entre autres. En 2007, elle a été invitée à donner un récital au prestigieux festival Menuhin de Gstaad. En 2010, elle a chanté des airs de concerts de Mozart avec L'Orchestre des pays de Savoie.
Elizabeth Bailey a été finaliste et lauréate de nombreux concours internationaux : Operalia 2009, ARD 2009, Reine Elisabeth 2008 (prix Jacques Stehman), Barcelone (Vinas), Genève, Toulouse, Strasbourg et Berne (Ernst Haefliger). Elle a aussi été triple lauréate du concours européen de Macon en remportant le Premier prix opéra, le deuxième prix en mélodie française et le prix de l'orchestre.
De Engelse sopraan Elizabeth Bailey studeerde aan de Londense Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Ze ontving meerdere beurzen en vervolmaakte zich bij de operastudio van dezelfde school.
Sindsdien heeft ze onder meer op het festival van Glyndebourne opgetreden, meer bepaald in producties van Le Nozze de Figaro en Die Fledermaus. Ze vertolkte reeds de volgende rollen : Gravin van Folleville (Il Viaggio a Reims) op een grote tournee doorheen Frankrijk, Guadalena en Manuelita (La Perichole), Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), Elvira (L'Italiana in Algeri), de Prinses (Le chat botté) en Barbarina (Le Nozze de Figaro) aan de Opera van Lausanne, Fortune (Gulliver) en Rosina (La Finta semplice) met de Jeune Opéra Compagnie (Zwitserland), Crobyle (Thais) bij de Grange Park Opera, Philine (Mignon), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), Barbarina (The little green swallow) en Thérèse (Les mamelles de Tirésias).
Elizabeth Bailey zingt ook in concerten en oratoria zoals Carmina Burana (Lausanne), de Messias van Haendel, het Duitse Requiem van Brahms, het kerstoratorium van Bach en Elias van Mendelssohn. In 2007 werd ze uitgenodigd voor een recital op het festival Menuhin in Gstaad. In 2010 heeft ze concertaria's van Mozart gezongen met het Orchestre des pays de Savoie.
Elizabeth Bailey is finaliste en laureate van talrijke internationale wedstrijden, waaronder Operalia 2009, ARD 2009, Barcelona (Vinas) en Bern (Ernst Haefliger). In 2005 mocht ze drie prijzen in ontvangst nemen op de Europese wedstrijd van Macon : de Eerste Prijs in Opera, de Tweede Prijs voor Franse melodie en de prijs van het orkest.
